Motivation Fades. Routines Last.
One of the biggest mistakes I used to make was waiting until I felt motivated.
I’d tell myself, “Monday I’ll get back on track,” or “once I feel more motivated, I’ll start working out again.”
The problem? Motivation is fleeting and doesn’t stick around.
Some days you’ll wake up excited to exercise. Other days, you’d rather hit snooze, order takeout, and promise yourself you’ll start tomorrow.
That’s normal.
What changed my life wasn’t finding more motivation, it was creating solid, error-resistance routines.
Instead of asking, “Do I feel like working out today?” I started saying, “What is today’s routine?” I left excuses out of the equation.
Small, highly achievable routines became habits. Habits became consistency. And consistency produced results that motivation never could.
You don’t have to overhaul your life overnight. Start by creating one easy routine that makes the healthy choice easier.
Try to implement something like the below:
Laying out your workout clothes the night before
Putting your workouts on your calendar like an appointment
Packing tomorrow’s lunch before you go to bed
Filling up your water bottle before leaving the house
Wake up 30 minutes before you normally do and go for a 30 minute walk before work
These aren’t exciting or flashy but they work.
Remember, motivation gets you started. Routines keep you going.
This week, don’t chase motivation. Build one small routine you can repeat, even on the days you don’t feel like it.
Because the people who succeed aren’t the ones who stay motivated, they’re the ones who stay consistent.
Remember… Hardest Part: Start™
